Volvo Trucks North America is now taking orders for trucks equipped with its selective catalytic reduction exhaust aftertreatment system.
Production is expected to begin this fall, with deliveries following a few weeks after.

"A number of customers have expressed an interest in placing SCR-equipped units in their fleets ahead of 2010," said Scott Kress, senior vice president of sales and marketing. "This gives early adopters the opportunity to gain familiarity with the technology and the benefits of SCR."

The truck manufacturer is ramping up production of trucks with SCR at its Dublin, Va., plant to accommodate the changeover in standards. The plant's production processes have recently been changed to prepare for the 2010 regulations. Volvo has received about 50 orders so far for the SCR trucks.
