Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America has added eight new Canadian dealers to its network in 2009, with another three in the pipeline.
This accounts for an increase in dealers by almost 50 percent, the company says.

The increase is part of a company-wide push into Canada, to take advantage of the Sterling closure and cutbacks in production by Isuzu/GMC and Hino.

"We've always found Canada a good market for our trucks," said Mike Rumsey, vice president, sales operations. "Fusos are rugged and known for their reliability, which is particularly valuable in tough operating environments. Our exclusive warranty package helps owners control their costs, and predictable costs help any company build profitability."

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America will extend its 3+4+5 Warranty package for its 2010 model year trucks. This includes a three-year bumper-to-bumper warranty, a four-year rust-through warranty and a five-year/280,000 kilometers or five-year/400,000 kilometers powertrain limited warranty on FE/FG models and FK/FM models, respectively.

"One thing not everyone realizes right away is that our five-year warranty includes not only the expected engine and drive train components, but also bolt-on components like the starter, alternator, water pump - even the turbocharger," Rumsey said.

The company says that Canadian sales have been increasing for several years. "It took us just over five years to sell our first 1,000 trucks in Canada," Rumsey said. "It only took an additional 26 months to sell our second 1,000, and that pace continues to accelerate."
