India's Tata Motors debuted its new truck range, dubbed the "world truck," designed to deliver performance at a lower life-cycle cost, the company says.
The new lineup will include multi-axle trucks, tractor-trailers, tippers, mixers and special application vehicles.

Not only will the product line be introduced in India, but it will also be offered in South Korea, South Africa, the Middle East and the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation countries. Tata is rolling out the trucks with the help of its two subsidiaries, Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle Company in South Korea and the Tata Motors European Technical Centre in the United Kingdom.

"The developing infrastructure in India makes it possible for transporters to reap the benefit of trucks with higher power, speed and carrying capacity," said Ratan Tata, chairman of Tata Sons and Tata Motors. "The new range from Tata Motors will meet those needs. It will also help us penetrate international markets more effectively and competitively."

Features of the trucks include:

* Capacity ranges from 10 tonnes to 75 tonnes Gross Combination Weight, providing for a variety of usages.

* Global positioning systems for vehicle tracking.

* Air-conditioned cabs, which come in three different lengths and heights and two different widths.

* Comfort features including reclining seats, adjustable steering wheel, seat belts and arm rests.

* Safety features that meet safety standards in the markets it will be sold in.

* Euro III and Euro IV compliant in terms of emissions.

Tata Motors is India's largest automobile company and the country's market leader in commercial vehicles, the company says. It is also the world's fourth largest truck manufacturer and the second largest bus manufacturer.
