Trevor Friesen of Pacific Peterbilt, Surrey, Canada was named as Peterbilt's inaugural National Paccar PX Skills Challenge winner at the company's National Customer Service Conference in St. Louis in late August.
This year, a total of 334 Peterbilt service technicians representing 208 full-service Peterbilt dealer locations were eligible to compete in the Paccar PX Engine Skills competition. Friesen bested the efforts of 20 final contestants in solving real life engine diagnostic issues using resources such as electronic engine analysis tools, Peterbilt's ServiceNet and standard shop tools.
Contestants were given one hour to complete the test under close scrutiny of Peterbilt dealer service training management personnel.
"Trevor exhibited a keen understanding of Paccar's PX-6 and PX-8 medium-duty engines. His diagnostic skill was clearly demonstrated in quickly identifying and solving a complex serviceable engine issue," says Scott Pearson, Peterbilt assistant general manager for sales and marketing. "Trevor's performance has set the standard for dealer service technicians as we continue to develop the full-range of Paccar engines."
Peterbilt also recognized John Shaddy, Truck Parts and Equipment, Las Vegas; and Ron Gallant, Peterbilt New Brunswick, Canada, for their respective 2nd and 3rd place finishes in the competition.
In 2006, the company announced availability of the Paccar PX-6 and PX-8 engines for its medium-duty vehicles. The 6.7 liter PX-6 is available in horsepower ratings from 200 to 325 and torque ranging from 520 to 750 foot-pounds. The PX-6 is the standard engine for the Model 325, Model 330, and will also be available for the Model 335.
The 8.3 liter PX-8 is available in horsepower ratings from 240 to 330 and torque ranging from 660 to 1,000 foot-pounds. It is the standard engine for the Model 335 and Model 340.
