SEKO, a global provider of freight forwarding and logistics solutions, recently expanded its operations into the Republic of Turkey. The new SEKO Turkey station, headquartered in Istanbul, offers airfreight, sea freight,
ground and multimodal services, including warehousing and distribution for both inbound and outbound freight.
Turkey, which has achieved strong economic growth since 2002, greatly enhances SEKO's presence in the important geo-political region of the Middle East, as its new office has strong operational ties with SEKO's recently opened office in Dubai, UAE. Following its recent socio-economic advances, Turkey began accession talks with the European Union in 2002 to attain full membership into the EU, which will provide increased market access in new trade zones throughout Europe and Asia.
The SEKO Turkey office is located only five minutes from the Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, and is located in proximity to several bordering seaports on the Mediterranean Sea, Aegean Sea and Black Sea. With its key geographic location on the Eurasian landmass, it acts as a transhipment and distribution hub with multimodal transportation throughout the entire Middle East, USA, Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), comprised of 11 former Soviet republics. SEKO Turkey is a member of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Association.
Turkey's economy consists of a complex mix of modern industry and commerce in addition to traditional agriculture. Turkey's inbound traffic outweighs its outbound traffic; therefore, SEKO Turkey primarily focuses on inbound freight from China, Far Eastern and Balkan countries. For outbound traffic, the U.S. and Europe are the main lanes of traffic for FOB shipments. By partnering with SEKO Global Logistics and maintaining a close relationship with SEKO destination offices, SEKO Turkey is better enabled to secure the freight shipments coming out of Turkey. The majority of goods exported include: hi-tech products, dangerous goods and retail garment on hanger (GOH) cargo.
