Robert “Pete” Joy, president of Haldex Friction Brake, will receive the prestigious Triangle Award from the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) and its heavy-duty market association,
Haldex Brake Chief to Receive Triangle Award at HDAW Next Month
the Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association (HDMA), during Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week, Jan. 22-25, 2007, in Las Vegas, Nev. “Pete Joy deserves this special honor for his significant contributions to the heavy-duty industry and HDMA,” said Tim Kraus, executive director of HDMA and vice president of MEMA. “Pete has given countless hours of his personal time for the betterment of the industry. He was a driving force behind the establishment of HDAW, and he devoted most of his free-time during 2005 to preparations for the inaugural event in January of this year,” he added. The award will be presented during the opening hour of HD Dialogue, HDMA’s annual business conference, Jan. 22 at The Mirage. Joy has been president of the Haldex Friction Business Unit since 2005. Prior to that, he was president of the North American Sales Division, responsible for all of Haldex CVS sales, marketing, distribution and remanufacturing activities in North America. He has nearly 35 years of heavy-duty industry experience, 29 years with Haldex and its predecessor businesses. Joy joined Midland-Grau North America in 1978, held various executive positions within the company prior to being appointed vice president of sales, marketing and distribution in 1991. He held this position until 1996 when he was appointed company president.
An active member of HDMA since 1993, Joy has served in all of the HDMA leadership positions, including two terms as its chairman. He served twice as the program chairman for the association’s HD Dialogue, its now-annual program forecasting the industry’s future, and has served on the HDMA executive committee. Joy also served as chairman of HDMA’s Heavy Duty Business Forum for two terms. He was a founding member of HDMA’s Heavy Duty Aftermarket Manufacturers Council and served as its chairman.
“As a true steward of the industry and a devoted member of HDMA and MEMA, Pete has been a staunch supporter of the supplier community and of the heavy duty industry,” said Bob McKenna, president and CEO of MEMA. “He truly embodies the spirit of this award, which has been presented by the membership of MEMA to honor selfless contribution to the motor vehicle supplier industry.”
