Ryder System Inc. has been ranked in the Top 100 on the 2006 InformationWeek 500, a prestigious listing of the leading business users of information technology.

As part of the survey for the ranking, InformationWeek evaluated two Ryder technology initiatives that delivered business value and improved productivity. The first was the Shop Maintenance System, which was enhanced using a service-oriented architecture to further streamline maintenance operations and deliver greater value and customer service to customers. The system provides a variety of reports and data for technicians, vehicles and shop workload via an interactive information dashboard to more than 700 Ryder maintenance facilities. As a result, training time has been reduced from two weeks to two days, technicians spend 20 percent less time on the system, and the number of diagnostics screens has been reduced from 3,000 to 150.
The second initiative was RyderSTAR, a web-based safety tracking and reporting system. This tool allows the effective communication of the company’s safety goals and measurement of the productivity and effectiveness of safety programs.
