The American Council of Frame and Alignment Specialists (ACOFAS) will hold another technician training clinic in early September in Akron, Ohio. No dates have yet been set for the two-day seminar, which will focus on truck and trailer
chassis frame straightening.
Topics to be explored will be safety procedures for working with frame straightening equipment; proper worker gear (shoes, gloves, eye protection, helmet, etc.); limitations of the equipment, and terminology of the experienced technicians so everyone understands what is being taught.
The afternoon and following day will be spent in the shop with technicians placed in groups according to levels of expertise. Newer technicians will be taught basic straightening setups and will do some minor frame corrections. More advanced groups will be taught more complex twist, sag, side-sway and diamond corrections. Technical instructors will be assigned to trade press and insurance industry representatives.
ACOFAS is offering this training course to all technicians and members of the Heavy Duty Distributors Association, National Truck & Heavy Equipment Claims Council, and Service Specialists Assn. Cost will be $150 for members of ACOFAS, $200 for members of HDDA, THECC and SSA, and $300 for all others. The cost covers lunch both days, break-time refreshments and all training materials.
The organization’s last clinic, focused on front-end alignment, was held in Milan, Ill. in April, and drew record attendance.
All participants receive access to the ACOFAS forum after completing the course. This forum can be visited at www.acofas.com. However, only members can access the closed forum that offers technical information.
