TMW Systems, which develops management software designed specifically for the trucking industry, has introduced DriverSeat, a Web-based solution designed to increase job satisfaction, enhance company loyalty and improve driver retention.

DriverSeat is part of a new generation of products by TMW developed to address high driver turnover in the trucking industry. The new product is designed to provide company drivers and owner-operators with a strong connection to their company and to their family and friends. From their laptops or home computers, truckstops, kiosks or break rooms, drivers can log into their company’s DriverSeat portal via the Internet to access services designed to help them manage their work and personal lives.
A carrier has the flexibility to set numerous options in DriverSeat to tailor the services offered specifically to each driver over its secure Web portal. These business services can include activities such as the ability to view past and pending pay information, view and request pending loads, submit requests for time off and access company news and even training videos.
More personally oriented services to enrich a driver’s life include private appointment calendars, favorite Web links and news feeds, photo galleries of family or hobby activities, access to personal e-mail and even customized links to weather, traffic and fuel price information.
“As the shortage of qualified drivers continues to challenge the trucking industry, carriers need to find ways to be more connected to their drivers and to increase job satisfaction,” said Dave Mook, TMW’s chief operating officer and chief technology officer. “Offering tailored information services – accessible while on the road and suited to their special needs – will help carriers both retain and attract more satisfied drivers.”
Feedback on DriverSeat was extremely positive when it was previewed to customers at TMW’s annual User Group last fall. The product is on target to be available for general release this May. DriverSeat is the second product designed specifically to address the driver shortage that TMW has released in the past six months. In November 2005, TMW launched DriverZone, an interactive planning tool to assist driver managers in keeping their driver population productive and more actively connected with operations.
