The National Private Truck Council has scheduled its annual Fleet Management Institute for Jan. 15-19, 2005, at the Renaissance Grand Hotel in St. Louis, Mo.

In its announcement, the council said, “The program draws from all-new content, or revised and upgraded material, which reflects the most current insights into best practices, benchmarking and operational excellence in the private fleet community. A faculty consisting of the nation's most experienced and respected private fleet management thought leaders will guide the learning experience through a series of workshops, panel discussions, lectures and interactive formats designed to enhance the attendees' educational experience and ensure their grasp of key private fleet management disciplines.
“Specific sessions will focus on strategic and tactical planning, justifying the private fleet, effective communications, leadership skills, private fleet financial models, leveraging outside transportation services, customer service, recruiting and hiring skills, compensation issues, activity based costing, backhaul strategies, driver leasing, safety improvement strategies, emerging technologies, lease vs. buy, outsourced maintenance, life cycle costing, accident investigation, a vehicle walk-around inspection and human resource management strategies.
“The Fleet Institute will be preceded by a full-day workshop to help candidates prepare for the Certified Transportation Professional certification examination and will feature a tabletop exhibit.
