Landstar System Inc., the Florida-based, non-asset-based provider of transportation capacity, said two of its operating subsidiaries
-- Landstar Ranger and Landstar Logistics -- have been recognized for transportation and logistics excellence.
In the Logistics Management 2004 Quest for Quality reader survey, Landstar Ranger, part of the Landstar Carrier Group, ranked fourth out of five award-winning carriers in the Heavy Haul category.
Landstar Logistics, meanwhile, earned the top spot among 10 companies in the third-party logistics (3PL) category and was ranked second out of four award winners in Intermodal Marketing. The results of the survey published in the August issue of Logistics Management marks the magazine's 21st annual report on customer satisfaction.
Landstar Logistics earned a Top 10 3PL Excellence Award in another reader satisfaction survey by Inbound Logistics . According to the publication, readers chose Landstar Logistics out of more than 300 companies nominated. This is the second consecutive year Landstar Logistics has made the list.
"Landstar is built on a network of independent sales agents and third-party capacity providers who strive to meet or exceed customers' needs," said Landstar President and CEO Henry Gerkens. Since 1997, Landstar's Carrier Group has garnered seven Quest for Quality awards while Landstar Logistics has earned five of the awards in the past four years.
