Safeway.com, the online division of the California grocery chain, has upgraded its home-delivery fleet with customized refrigerated trucks bodies, manufactured for the company by Supreme Corp.

Safeway.com initiated the refrigerated truck program in 2002 with 155 units and has added 75 more refrigerated bodies in 2004.
The custom bodies are built on a Ford E-350 chassis. To ensure the freshest groceries possible upon delivery, Supreme divided the truck into multiple compartments to meet the specific needs of Safeway.
According to Mike Ganious, Refrigerated Product Manager for Supreme, "The Supreme refrigerated bodies are a great choice for a home delivery because of their efficiency and durability. What has added to the success of the bodies used by Safeway is that they are custom engineered for their specific delivery needs and vocation."
The Supreme trucks will be used for Safeway.com’s online market, which includes Seattle, Vancouver, San Francisco, Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, and Portland. Safeway also owns several large grocery chains in the United States and Canada, including Von’s and Pavilions.
