Melton Technologies (MTI), Winston-Salem, N.C., will extend its dispatch, load-tracking and load-planning applications to handheld devices
Melton Technologies to Offer Wireless LTL Capabilities
for LTL fleets using a mobile application platform from Konaware Inc. of Redwood City, Calif.
MTI fleets will be able to access data in the field to generate more frequent pickups per driver, reduced telephone time between driver and dispatcher and faster updates of deliveries, pick-ups and merchandise tracking. The system will also eliminate driver data entry for manifests and bills of lading.
MTI fleet management solution will handle information processes from order entry to dispatch to in-cab messaging. The KonaWare Mobility Platform will enable customers to send and receive and delivery data wirelessly while en route. The end-user application will run on Pocket PC devices equipped with cellular wireless connectivity.
KonaWare will give carriers real time feedback on operations to make better decisions based on historical performance.
KonaWare QuickStart service enables developers to automate the integration of transportation management systems with the KonaWare Mobility Platform, extending back office applications to handheld computers. The mobile applications run on a Pocket PC, Windows Mobile, Java-enabled handheld or vehicle-mounted computers.
“Incorporating the QuickStart tool allows our customers to see first hand how our joint product can leverage mobile technology for a rapid return on investment,” said MTI CEO Chuck Melton.
