Due to a large number of student driver applications, Millis Transfer has opened a new driver training location in Richfield, Wis.

The new Millis Training Institute is the third addition to its driver educational program. Millis opened the new location because the Georgia and Ohio schools were booked up two months in advance.
"Most people who decide to go to truck driving school don’t want to wait for two months," said Reid Ransom, director of Human Resources & Recruiting. "We want to get applicants into school as soon as possible so they can get on the road and start making money."
Classes last three weeks.
Christopher Smith, who has worked for Millis since 1993 and was recently promoted to instructor, will be responsible for teaching students about the trucking industry and making sure they graduate. Graduates are then awarded their CDL and will begin five to six weeks of over-the-road training. While in training, students are paid $330 per week, and once hired as an over-the-road driver for Millis, will earn 31 cents per mile.
Students are guaranteed a job upon completion of the course. If students choose to stay with Millis Transfer for a full year after graduation, the upfront cost for school is $500. Requirements for applying to any of the three schools include being at least 21 years old, living in the Millis hiring area, having a clean motor vehicle record, and good employment history.
