International Truck and Engine Corp. is now offering the new Cummins ISM 410 horsepower rating on International 8600 and 9000i Series vehicles.

The ISM 425V HP vocational rating is available in the 5000i series vehicles.
These new engine ratings offer increased horsepower and 1,550 lb.-ft. of torque combined with a lightweight package of 2,190 pounds (dry weight).
These new ratings target regional haul and severe service customers who want a lightweight engine with higher horsepower and torque capability. The Cummins ISM is also equipped with Load-Based Speed Control, which manages the available engine rpm based on changing operating conditions such as vehicle weight and terrain to optimize shifting. In addition, another standard feature -- Gear-Down Protection -- encourages the driver to operate in top gear. Each of these elements goes a long way in improving fuel economy and increasing the owner’s bottom line.
"Offering the Cummins ISM horsepower ratings is delivering exactly what our customers are looking for -- increased horsepower in one of the lightest weight engines in the industry," said Jordan Feiger, vice president and general manager of the heavy vehicle center at International.
