Intermec Technologies Corp., Everett, Wash., has introduced the CV60, the first rugged vehicle mount computer to integrate RFID

(Radio Frequency Identification) with both Bluetooth technology and a wireless base station.
The CV60 forklift mount terminal is designed for data collection applications in warehousing and distribution, manufacturing, transportation and customer service.
The CV60 offers full PC functionality with industrial-grade, solid-state capabilities that can stand up to the most demanding environments, including freezing temperatures. The system also is designed to avoid inadvertent shutdowns and power loss, common to material handling vehicles.
With a cast magnesium housing, the CV60 -- whether fixed or vehicle mounted -- features a powerful Intel P-III Ultra Low Power 800 MHz processor and offers a choice of Microsoft Windows CE and XP operating systems, giving users all the PC functionality and speed of a desktop computer.
RFID technology is a complement to industry's current barcode-based tracking systems, allowing companies to automatically track inventory throughout an entire supply chain.
RFID automatic data collection typically does not require line of sight or manual scanning as do most bar code-based systems. For example, information from RFID-tagged cases on a pallet can be read automatically using fixed, mobile or handheld readers rather than requiring individual bar code scanning.
