Third-party logistics provider Traffic Management Services Inc. (TMS), Alma, Mich., has agreed to use CarrierPoint -- the logistics software suite -- from TransCore's Commercial Services Group.
TMS will use CarrierPoint’s compliance, monitoring and collaboration software to improve freight management for a growing list of shipper clients. CarrierPoint's web-based logistics software offers subscription-based pricing, rapid implementation and the opportunity for clients to add new modules as they change and grow.
TMS will take advantage of CarrierPoint management tools including its Web-based Request For Quotes; Carrier Contract Management; AutoRate, a shipment rating tool which provides automated least-cost dispatch and rate management; WebDispatch, which allows shippers and carriers to conduct their contract freight business directly; Dynamic Shipping MarketPlace for offering shipments, communicating prices, making commitments, and sharing information; and DockMaster, a Web-based dock door scheduling tool.
CarrierPoint was launched as a freestanding web business in 1999 and was originally based in Atlanta. TransCore Commercial Services Group of Beaverton, Ore., bought CarrierPoint last year.
