The Dixie Truckers Home, a truckstop in McLean, Ill., that dates back 85 years, has closed its doors, and owners Charles and C.J. Beeler of Bloomington say they’re retiring.

The pair was unsuccessful in their efforts to buy back the family business, which used to front Route 66 back in 1928.
The truckstop -- along with Dixie Truckers Homes in Effingham and Tuscola -- has been acquired by a Rhode Island firm and will remain open, but under a new name.
The McLean restaurant, truckstop and store complex features about 100 employees, and is home to a Route 66 Hall of Fame.
