Covenant Transport Inc., of Chattanooga, Tenn., has ordered up to 500 Volvo VNs for delivery in the third quarter of 2003.

The announcement was made Friday by Volvo Trucks North America Inc.
Covenant is one of the largest truckload carriers in the United States, specializing in just-in-time and other premium transportation services.
Covenant -- a new customer of Volvo Trucks -- ordered VN670 sleeper cabs with Cummins ISX engines. The new Volvos will be used in single-driver operation in the fleet's truckload service.
"Covenant Transport has a well-earned reputation for being as selective with its suppliers as it is with the just-in-time markets it serves," said Scott Kress, Volvo Trucks senior vice president of sales.
