Volvo Truck North America will increase Class 8 truck production at its New River Valley, Va., plant from an average 44 trucks per day to 72 trucks per day.
Ramp-up is scheduled to begin in mid-April and should be completed by the end of the month.
Company spokesman Jim McNamara said the company currently anticipates a recall of about 400 workers in conjunction with the increase. McNamara said the increase is due to current order intake and "the excellent market reception to the new Volvo VN" introduced last year.
