Tele Atlas North America, a provider of digital map databases and real-time traffic information, and infoUSA, a provider of proprietary business and consumer databases and sales and marketing solutions, have announced
a strategic alliance that will incorporate 12 million points of interest (POIs) from infoUSA into the Tele Atlas turn-by-turn map database product. The companies say the alliance joins the most extensive POI database available with the most powerful, turn-by-turn map database for North America.
"With the addition of infoUSA's POI data, our navigational database product gains unsurpassed depth, breadth and accuracy of points of interest," said Robert Miller, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Tele Atlas.
"We partnered with infoUSA because it has the highest quality POI data available." The resulting turn-by-turn database enriched with the most recent and dynamic POI contents will be available to power robust applications and services within the navigation, telematics and location-based services markets. The Tele Atlas comprehensive POI database can be tailored to offer any specific POI categories to meet any customer needs. Both urban and rural POIs are included in the database product. Navigation and telematics devices equipped with Tele Atlas powered map databases can locate hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs and myriad other businesses quickly and easily from their devices. For fleet and logistics operations, this feature can speed the delivery process.
"Our relationship with Tele Atlas is an excellent alliance for infoUSA in the growing telematics and electronic mapping market," said Vinod Gupta, chairman and CEO of infoUSA. "infoUSA shares Tele Atlas' commitment to providing its customers and consumers with the highest-quality database solutions."
