Republic Services has chosen Dossier32 Maintenance Management Software,
developed by Arsenault Associates of Atco, N.J., to manage the maintenance and operating costs for its fleet of more than 6,500 units nationwide.
Headquartered in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Republic is a leading provider of non-hazardous waste collection and removal services. The company operates a diverse fleet of on and off road vehicles and equipment at numerous facilities across the United States. This centralized fleet program will provide Republic with a total fleet management solution necessary to track and control costs and maintenance services at all management and operating levels.
Deployed incrementally to all 250 Republic locations, full implementation of the system is anticipated by mid 2003. With nearly 40 locations already aboard and operating the program, Republic's plans are to bring on all 150 hauling operations by end of 2002, to be followed by 54 landfill and 50 transfer locations in early 2003.
Previously, each location worked off a stand-alone program or used paper systems. Because they needed a centralized system from which all 250 locations and corporate headquarters could work from, Arsenault's first task was to assist Republic's fleet management staff in developing a deployment strategy and operational plan. This included the development of corporate wide standards for items such as vehicle and equipment identification, unit specification words, names and terms, a maintenance vocabulary, PM service standards, parts inventory guidelines, and organizational and work flow methods.
Some of the goals of deploying the Dossier program includes allowing Republic to perform fleet-wide real time cost analysis, measure equipment performance, control and reduce maintenance expenses, ensure manufacturer warranty compliance, track equipment utilization and fuel consumption, monitor vendors, and automate parts quantity order points to maintain proper inventory levels to prevent over or under stocking of parts.
