DaimlerChrysler Vans LLC, the U.S. distributor of Sprinter Vans, has announced the introduction of the company's new Dodge Sprinter.
The Sprinter van was previously distributed under the Freightliner name.
The Sprinter van was previously distributed under the Freightliner name.

The company began distributing the Sprinter van in the United States late last year under the Freightliner brand. First introduced in 1994, the popular commercial van has been marketed in Europe under the Mercedes-Benz brand.
The company says selling the Sprinter under the Dodge brand will give customers more sales and service locations, plus easy access to the full line of Dodge commercial vehicles, and financing through DaimlerChrysler Services. It also will allow the company to market the Sprinter to Dodge light truck customers, whereas previously they were limited to the traditional Freightliner heavy and medium truck customer base.
"The introduction of the Dodge Sprinter is both a logical next step and natural evolution in the DaimlerChrysler global van strategy," said Rolf Bartke, Senior Vice President of DaimlerChrysler AG and Head of the Mercedes-Benz Vans Business Unit. "This move to incorporate the Sprinter into the strong line of Dodge light-duty vehicles complements our ongoing commitment to broaden the availability and appeal of our products worldwide."
The company emphasized several factors in the decision - foremost among them, an overall demand by customers for more service locations, and company-wide volume advantages afforded through a full product line of pickup, SUV, van and passenger car sales offered under the established brand of Dodge.
