Houston police are testing a radar detector detector to catch commercial trucks illegally using the devices to speed.

The Houston Chronicle reports that City Councilman Carroll Robinson obtained an Interceptor VG-2 Radar Detector Detetor from Kustom Signals of Kansas after learning the Texas Department of Public Safety had acquired more than 100 of the units. The device is currently being tested in the patrol car of Sgt. C.J. Klausner of the department’s truck enforcement unit.
Robinson, who chairs the council’s Transportation Committee, is requesting eight of the devices. If funding is approved, they could be installed in the truck enforcement nit’s patrol cars by this fall.
