Coal drivers converged on the Capitol in Charleston, W.Va., Tuesday to protest a directive to enforce state weight limits.

According to published reports, about 100 truckers blocked traffic around the Capitol complex.
The protest was triggered by Gov. Bob Wise's action Monday, sending state enforcement agencies to U.S. 52 in Wayne County in a coordinated enforcement action - the first such action since the 1980s.
Crews stopped 14 trucks, with the lightest weighing 156,000 pounds.
Coal truckers say if the 80,000-pound law is enforced it will put truckers, trucking companies and coal miners out of work.
The state Legislature failed to pass a bill that would have increased penalties for violating state weight limits and put more responsibility on coal shippers and receivers.
