Axiom Navigation, a California-based GPS/wireless provider, is offering a low-cost data logging device for small fleets.
The Accu-Tracker FMS-2000 is based on Axiom's 12-channel GPS receiver, paired with a full short-range 900 MHz data transmission system. When combined with third party software, the system lets fleet managers run detailed reports to check route efficiency, pinpoint where cargo is disappearing, and check up on that "questionable" driver.
Each FMS-2000 unit can be programmed to log an event through a variety of triggers, such as time, distance, speed, when vehicle speed exceeds a certain a set MPH; stops, when vehicle ignition is turned either off or on; and discrete settings, when a defined activity/trigger on the vehicle takes place such as door opening, latch released, boom activated, fork activated, etc.
The FMS-2000 is ideal for courier services, LTL trucking, private fleets, and any small to medium fleet, according to the company. Each device can store a full days route activity at 6 second intervals, which consists of date, time, longitude/latitude position, speed, heading, and triggered discretes. With its small size, stealth installation is easily performed.
Upon its return to the home facility, Axiom's FMS-2000 uses a 900 MHz one-way radio to automatically transmit its stored data to the base station. Base station features include operation under Windows 95, 98, NT and 2000; a powerful map engine; vehicle history record and playback; and automatic unattended operation.
