Volvo Global Trucks has reorganized its North American operating units, Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks North America.

Mack and VTNA will maintain separate headquarters, each with its own management. However, several functions will be brought under common leadership, reporting to Michel Gigou, president and CEO of VTNA, and provide support to both companies. While the leadership of these functions will be located at VTNA headquarters in Greensboro, NC, each will have dedicated personnel in Allentown, Pa., to support Mack management.
Effective immediately, the following personnel will lead the support functions:
  • Terrence Grube has been named vice president - legal. Grube has been with Mack since 1973, and has served since 1998 as Mack executive vice president, general counsel and secretary.
  • Göran Gustafsson has been named vice president - customer engineering. Gustafsson has been with Volvo since 1970, and has served since March as Mack vice president - customer engineering.
  • Sam Johnston has been named vice president - dealer development. Johnston has served since 1997 as director - dealer development at VTNA.
  • Rikard Jonsson has been named senior vice president of parts sales and marketing. Jonsson has served since 1997 as general manager of Volvo Parts South America in Brazil.
  • Marc Kalbermatten has been named vice president - IS/IT. Kalbermatten has been with Mack since 1981, and has served since 1999 as vice president - IT.
  • Mark T. McLaughlin has been named senior vice president - human resources. McLaughlin has been with Mack since 1997, and served most recently as senior vice president - human resources and administration.
  • John Mies has been named vice president - communications. Mies has been with Mack since 1992, and served most recently as vice president - communications.
  • Harold Wiegel has been named vice president - customer satisfaction. Wiegel joined Mack in 1990, and was named vice president - customer support for VTNA in September.
"In addition to helping us address today's challenging North American market conditions, this new organization will have substantial long-term benefits," said Tryggve Sthen, president and CEO of Volvo Global Trucks. "It will strengthen both Mack and Volvo as distinct, premium truck brands, offering premium products and customer support - and provide a very competitive structure for future profitable growth in this key market."
