Petro Stopping Centers has committed its locations to help collect blood for the "Drive to Save Lives" blood drive coordinated by The NATSO Foundation.

Although some Petro locations, particularly franchised ones, have participated in the blood drive before, this is the first time the drive has received a formal commitment at the corporate level. Most of Petro's 58 corporate and franchised locations are expected to participate.
The Drive to Save Lives is one of the largest industry blood collection efforts in the country, according to the American Red Cross. Last year 160 travel plazas and truckstops held blood drives as part of the effort, collecting more than 4,700 units of blood.
Two other travel plaza chains, AMBEST and TravelCenters of America, also participate in the campaign, along with a number of independent truckstops.
The NATSO Foundation is the charitable arm of the truckstop organization NATSO. Travel plazas and truckstops participating in the blood drive have hosted about 1,000 drives and collected nearly 30,000 units of blood in the last seven years.
