Refrigerated truckload carrier Stevens Transport of Dallas, will implement OptiYield Fuel & Route, Logistics.com's fuel and routing optimization product.
Stevens will use the software to generate optimal routes and fueling stop recommendations.
The announcement from Logistics.com claimed that Stevens would realize a savings of $800,000 per year using the software and a 100 percent return on investment in three months or less.
"Very conservatively, we estimate that OptiYield Fuel& Route will save approximately 5 cents per mile or $550 annually per tractor," said Matt Welding, director of quality assurance for Stevens. "With approximately 1,400 company tractors, this translates into an approximate annual savings of $800,000, not to mention the savings our over 290 independent contractors should directly benefit from."
Stevens Transport serves the contiguous 48 states, Mexico and Canada with 14 service centers throughout North America. The nation's 72nd largest motor carrier, Stevens grossed $193 million in 1999. The company also fields a snappy web site, which offers a slick animated introduction and a selection of driver recruitment videos at www.stevenstransport.com.
