Wireless communications provider Nextel Communications, Reston, Va., has added @Road’s Mobile Resource Management to its list of mobile services.
@Road, of Fremont, Calif., offers GPS enhanced, Internet-based applications for use by transportation companies and mobile workforces.
@Road’s Mobile Resource Management provides location information, vehicle maintenance data, reports on location, speed, stops and more. Mobile Resource Management Solution on the Nextel network requires installation of @Road in-vehicle hardware and monthly access to the @Road LocationSmart network. The service also requires a subscription to the Nextel PacketStream 450 service plan, a Nextel voice plan and a Nextel Internet-capable phone. Prices for the @Road iLM 2000i start at $299, and access fees begin at $29.95 per month.
Nextel’s wireless network provides mobile phone service that also allows defined workgroups within the network to communicate directly with one another using their Nextel phones like two-way radios. The service is popular with local and regional fleets, including many courier operations.
