SPX Corp., Warren, Mich., has awarded a $25,000 grant to Northwood University to be used in the development of a course on management operations in the heavy-duty truck market.

Representatives from SPX, as well as from the university, hope the four-credit, undergraduate course will serve as a springboard to help create an entire curriculum for the heavy-duty, recreational and agricultural segments of the aftermarket.
"I talk with customers on both the OE and aftermarket side of the heady-duty, agricultural and recreational markets every day," said Andrew D. Shadoian, vice president, sales and marketing for SPX. "Many of them say they have a real need for improving dealership management, but do not know where to turn for help."
SPX Corp. is a global provider of technical products and systems, industrial products and services, service solutions and vehicle components, including OTC heavy-duty shop tools.
Northwood is a private, not-for-profit university specializing in free-enterprise-based business management education with campuses in Michigan, Texas and Florida.
