CarrierPoint Inc. has formed a partnership with TradingDynamics to bring business-to-business freight auctions to the trucking industry.

The companies estimate that billing errors and manual intervention increase freight bills by nearly 5%. Auctions will allow companies to increase business while eliminating the expense of outsourcing to a freight broker. By creating a transportation portal with auction capability, CarrierPoint will bring real-time bidding, information exchange and reporting to a traditionally expenseive and time-consuming practice, the company said.
Atlanta-based CarrierPoint offers a variety of load securement and information services to trucking. TradingDynamics, based in Mountain View, CA, is a leading provider of business-to-business Internet trading applications.
