Washington state's North Cascades Highway will be closed for at least two weeks so crews can clean up fuel spilled during a tractor-trailer crash.

Washington 20 will be closed at the permanent gates on the west side of Rainy Pass and the east side of nearby Washington Pass, for a stretch of about 36 miles.
About 9,000 gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel were spilled Oct. 29 when an eastbound rig pulling two tanker trailers went off the highway. The entire road bed will have to be removed to dispose of the contaminated materials.
