Paccar reported record revenues for 2012 and its 74th consecutive year of net profit. Paccar’s annual revenues of $17.05 billion were the highest in company history and the $1.11 billion of net income was the fourth best in its history.

Strike Averted at East and Gulf Coast Ports

A looming strike at East and Gulf Coast ports has been avoided as the months-long labor negotiations finally reached a tentative agreement. Late Friday, Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service Director George H. Cohen, who has been moderating the negotiations since last year, issued a statement indicating that a tentative agreement had been reached regarding the Master Agreement between the United States Maritime Alliance and the International Longshoremen’s Association.

Transport Canada recently released the results of a study on the safety and environmental performance of low rolling resistance tires. Low rolling resistance tires are designed to improve vehicle fuel efficiency. They are made of advanced materials and have treads, dimensions and weights that help to minimize the energy lost as the tire rolls across the road surface.
