Truckload and Intermodal Linehaul Rates Rose In January

Truckload linehaul rates rose for the fourth straight month in January, increasing 0.9% from December, according to the Cass Truckload Linehaul Index. Annually, rates are up 4.1% from last January. Superstorm Sandy may have much to do with the larger-than-normal January increase.

Columbus to Place 18 CNG Automated Side Loaders Into Service by End of 2013

The City of Columbus will have a total of 64 CNG units in service in total by year-end 2013. Out of that number, 18 will be CNG automated side loaders.

The City of Columbus, Ohio, plans to place an additional 44 dedicated CNG units into service by the end of 2013. Columbus is also currently building a second CNG fueling site located on the north side of the city.

Strikers at Ports of L.A., Long Beach Reject Contract

In December, after an eight-day strike at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, tentative agreements were made that seemingly ended the strike. But, according to recent reports, the employees, who are members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union's Local 63 Office Clerical Unit, failed to ratify those tentative agreements.
