Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta said last week that the Department of Transportation needs an agency devoted to security for all modes of transportation.
According to the Journal of Commerce, Mineta envisions an administration at the same level as the Federal Highway Administration, Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Federal Aviatin Administration and other agencies.
Mineta made the remarks when he spoke to reporters after a speech in Baltimore Thursday morning.
