Transtex Composite’s lineup of aerodynamic improving solutions is expanding to include the Edge Cone gap reducer and Edge Tail rear fairing.

Together the new products can provide fuel savings of up to 10% and qualifies users for the EPA’s SmartWay Elite program, says Transtex.

“Carriers can expect the same superior performance from the Edge Cone and Edge Tail as from our trailer skirts,” said Marc Bolduc, general manager of Transtex. “The average carrier will find a suite of solutions will pay for themselves in under a year.”

The Edge Cone reduces air turbulence by filling the gap between the tractor and trailer which Transtex says can improve fuel efficiency by up to 3%. It is made of puncture resistant thermoplastic and will be available in November 2014.

The Edge Tail is a fairing that extends from the rear of the trailer to reduce drag and can increase fuel efficiency but as much as 4%. It has a 30 inch auto-deploying extension and will be available in Spring 2015.

Both of these new products are on display at the ATA MC&E event in San Diego from Oct. 4-7 at booth 926.
