Cummins and Cummins Westport are recalling just over 25,000 Cummins Westport Model ISL G engines manufactured Sep. 12, 2007 through Feb. 2, 2014 and Cummins Westport Model ISX12 G engines manufactured Feb. 19, 2013, through Feb. 2, 2014.

Condensation in the intake manifold may freeze during cold weather conditions and interfere with the proper operation of the intake manifold pressure sensor. The improper operation of the sensor could induce elevated exhaust temperatures or flames from the exhaust pipe, increasing the risk of a fire or burn injury to a person near the exhaust pipe.

Cummins and Cummins Westport dealers will upload a new ECM calibration, free of charge, to remedy the problem.

The two companies began notifying the affected vehicle manufacturers on Feb. 14. The manufacturers have not yet provided a schedule for notifying vehicle owners.
