DAT Solutions has released its DAT Keypoint Ops transportation management software, which is designed for entry-level freight brokers.

Keypoint Ops is aimed at brokers who want a simple operations system that places commonly used dispatch functions on a single screen. Brokers can enter key information about a shipper and the freight and dispatch a truck.

Brokers can also use the TMS to send a rate confirmation to the carrier, confirm that the load was picked up and delivered, and print and send an invoice to the shipper.

DAT said it has designed Keypoint Ops to be simple to understand, requiring minimal training to use. DAT provides the required training online via self-paced learning.

Startup brokerages expressed interest in a simpler TMS, according to DAT. New companies wanted similar organization and automation to that offered by DAT’s full Keypoint TMS, but in a package designed for more basic needs.

"DAT Keypoint Ops was designed for a startup broker who needs a simplified TMS that can easily take care of his or her operations on a single screen," said Steve Blair, general manager of DAT Keypoint. "It's simple to learn, easy to use, and, as the brokerage grows, it can seamlessly scale up from a single-user system to one with hundreds of users."

As a brokerage grows, Keypoint Ops users can choose to upgrade to the full Keypoint TMS with its integrated operations, accounting functions and optional modules for imaging, EDI, mileage and load boards.

DAT Keypoint Ops is a web application that is sold through a monthly subscription. DAT Keypoint Ops interfaces with all major load boards, including DAT Power as well as DAT RateView for lane rates guidance.
