Chevron Delo 400 LE Multigrade SAE 15W-40 has received formulation approval for Mercedes Benz diesel engine oil specification 228.31, covering all Mercedes-Benz diesel engines using Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs).

Chevron Delo 400 LE, which already meets MB 228.3, was approved for the new specification without reformulation.
In North America, the specific application for MB 228.31 is the Sprinter van, marketed under the Freightliner and Dodge brands. These vehicles are typically used in the light-duty truck market for delivery companies as well as shuttle buses and trade vehicles.
The products address a number of performance criteria, including boost pressure lost, bore polishing, cam wear, cylinder wear, engine sludge, general engine deposits, oil consumption, piston ring wear, deposits and cleanliness, ring sticking, timing chain wear and viscosity increase at 100 Celsius.
