Harry Potter fans didn’t know it, but getting “Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone” on DVD or video when it was released last week was made possible by trucking companies such as Saia.
Saia Instrumental In “Harry Potter” Movie Delivery

Saia, a leading provider of regional one- and two-day shipping service, was instrumental in helping stores in its 21-state coverage area by delivering more than 3,100 shipments in a narrow time frame – between May 22 and 24.
Nearly 5,200 pallets of movies were delivered, and every one was at the stores on time for release day. “We performed exceptional on these shipments,” said Los Angeles Regional Operations and Sales Manger Butch Brenerman. “As a result, our customer, Exel Logistics, has shown confidence by assuring us of additional shipments in the future.”
New Orleans Regional Operations and Sales Manger Murray Parker noted that the company had to monitor each step from the time they picked up the shipments until the deliveries were made. “Several members of our operational, customer service and technology teams were involved in conference calls each day to report on our progress and shipment status.”
Specialized technology was used to automatically set service dates on bill entry, for tracing and tracking freight, and to assist the customer with inquiries. Exel Logistics used the Saia website to retrieve proof of delivery information.
