The Pennsylvania Motor Truck Assn. reported the following highway information Thursday morning as roadways in the New York City area gradually re-open after Tuesday's terrorist attack on the World Trade Center towers.


Port Authority of New York/New Jersey
* Bayonne Bridge, Goethals Bridge and Outerbridge Crossing are CLOSED BOTH WAYS
* Holland Tunnel remain closed in both directions until further notice
* Lincoln Tunnel in both directions has been re-opened.
* George Washington Bridge upper and lower level are OPEN BOTH WAYS

MTA Bridge and Tunnel Crossings
* Brooklyn Battery remains closed in both directions.
* Manhattan-bound Queens Midtown Tunnel (I-495) reports at least a 40 minute delay.
* Bronx Bound Throgs Neck Bridge (I-295) all toll lanes open.
* Queens Midtown Tunnel, Triboro, Henry Hudson, Bronx Whitestone, Throgs Neck, Cross Bay and Marine Parkway Bridges are all open in both directions.
* Verrazano Narrows Bridge: CLOSED BOTH WAYS

NYC Crossings
* Brooklyn Bridge - remains closed both ways
* Manhattan Bridge - remains closed both ways
* Williamsburg Bridge - westbound (Manhattan-Bound) remains closed.
* Queensboro Bridge - westbound (Manhattan bound) OPEN - EXPECT DELAYS; eastbound Lower level remains closed (upper level open).
* All crossings located north of Triboro Bridge are fully open

NYC Highways
* Eastbound Staten Island Expressway (I-278) left lane closed between Goethals Bridge and Verrazano Narrows Bridge (For Emergency use only)
* Westside Highway & FDR remain closed in both directions from 34th Street to Battery Park.
* In Lower Manhattan, everything from 14th Street to Battery Park between Hudson River to East River is closed.

Long Island
All Westbound Parkways and Expressways are open into Queens

Northern Bridge Crossings
Tappan Zee, Bear Mountain, Newburgh Beacon (I-84), Mid Hudson, Kingston Rhinecliff and Rip Van Winkle are all open in both directions.

Buffalo, N.Y.
I-190 northbound expect heavy delays at the Canadian border due to ongoing police activity until further notice.

New Jersey
* Hudson County: Eastbound ramp from Tonnelle Circle to Route 139 (Jersey City) REOPENED; Eastbound Pulaki Skyway - REOPENED
* Monmouth County: Expect delays in both directions of Route 35 at Tinton Ave in Eatontown

New Jersey Turnpike
* Interchange 13 is CLOSED
* Heavy delays exiting at interchange 13 due to volume and lane closure on Staten Island Expressway (see above)
* Northbound Eastern Spur has heavy exiting delays at interchange 15E with alternate volume.
* Hudson Bay Extension (I-78) remains closed eastbound. Northbound Eastern Spur ramp to eastbound 495 is reopened.
* Southbound Eastern Spur Interchange 17E ramp to eastbound 495 is reopened
* Northbound 80/95 towards GW bridge is open.

NY State Thruway
Thruway officials request those traveling to northern New England to consider using I-84 Corridor from NY State Thruway to Hartford and points north - can also use I-90 to head to Mass Pike - as opposed to using Tappan Zee Bridge corridor.
