Avoid the westbound lanes of Interstate 40 in Knoxville, Tenn., between Alcoa Highway and Interstate 640 next week.

Beginning at 8 p.m. Monday, traffic will be reduced to two narrow lanes through the area while new expansion joints are installed for the interstate span over Middlebrook Pike. All westbound lanes are expected to be reopen by Friday afternoon.
Use I-640 or I-275 to bypass the work area.
