Landstar System, Jacksonville, Fla., has opened its first multi-purpose trailer interchange facility in Laredo, Texas.
LandStar Opens Facility in Laredo

The 11-acre drop yard site includes offices for several Landstar agents, cross-docks for transloading, interchange inspection facilities, as well as complete amenities for Landstar's owner-operators.
Landstar's facility, a first of its kind for the company, has been two-and-a-half years in the making. "The opening of our Laredo facility is a signal of our interest in Mexico," said Landstar President, Chairman and CEO Jeff Crowe. "Laredo is at the center of the primary trade route connecting Canada, the U.S. and Mexico."
With its new facility, Landstar will pool its capacity in one location and conduct mandatory inbound and outbound inspections. Eight of the facility's 11 acres are paved. The facility has security-lighted enclosures, an eight-bay open cross-dock, and a lounge for Landstar owner-operators.
The lounge's amenities include his and her showers, washer-dryer and kitchen facilities and satellite TV. The lounge will also offer computer access to posted loads on the Landstar website, along with hookups for their personal laptops. All facilities at the drop yard and in the lounge will be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
