A wildfire continued to make its way across the southern part of Oklahoma yesterday, forcing Interstate 35 to temporarily shut down, the Associated Press reports.

The southbound lanes of the interstate, which runs north-south through the central part of the state, were temporarily closed near the town of Davis in the Arbuckle Mountains region in the southern portion of Oklahoma.
The AP said that nearly 40,000 acres across the state have been scorched by the wildfires. Much of the central part of the state hasn’t seen much rainfall for more than 50 days, and gusty winds haven’t helped matters.
