Make-A-Wish Convoy This Weekend
May 11, 2000
Big rigs, little kids, and thousands of well-wishers will come together in Lancaster, PA this coming Sunday, Mothers Day, May 14, for the 11th annual Make-A-Wish Convoy.
The convoy is the main attraction in a day of fundraising organized by the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Susquehanna Valley in south-central Pennsylvania.
Organizers say Randy Hebdon, Sunset, Utah, a driver for Pride Transportation, will be coming the farthest to participate in the Convoy.
Last year’s event raised $250,000 and hosted 401 trucks. Sixty-six Make-A-Wish boys and girls rode trucks in the Convoy. Drivers and companies wishing to participate this year are asked to bring a minimum $50 donation.
The event is staged at Burle Industries, 1000 New Holland Ave., Lancaster, PA. Use the Rte. 23/New Holland exit off the Rte. 30 bypass.
The lot opens at 6 a.m. for truck parking. The Convoy will pull out at 1:30 p.m. for a 26 mile ride to historic Ephrata and back. The day-long event will include live music, barbecue, games, and an auction.
