Daimler Trucks North America has announced a warranty to cover the aftertreatment system on Detroit and Cummins engines available through its used-truck retail network, SelecTrucks.

It is an addition to the company’s Select Limited Warranty coverage options offered through SelecTrucks that allows covered repairs to be completed at any Freightliner or Western Star authorized service center in the U.S. or Canada.

The ATS warranty covers major system components like the diesel oxidation catalyst, the selective catalyst reduction, the doser injector and the diesel exhaust fluid injector. The warranty includes coverage for temperature and pressure sensors.

The warranty also covers the failure of the DPF, which could cost upwards of $2,500, according to DTNA. The cost to replace an entire ATS without a warranty could exceed $10,000.

“Due to the ever increasing cost and complexity of exhaust after-treatment systems required to meet EPA emissions standards, drivers want to feel more assured that their investment is protected,” said Bryan Howard, director of SelecTrucks sales and distribution. “The best way to give them peace of mind is to offer the coverage they need.”
