Both directions of Interstate 94 in St. Paul, Minn., will close this weekend as crews continue work on the Highway 52 Lafayette Bridge east of downtown St. Paul.

The road will close at 10 p.m. Friday, April 25 and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, April 28, weather permitting. Westbound I-94 will be closed between Highway 61 and I-35E. Eastbound I-94 will be closed from I-35E to Mounds Boulevard.

Motorists should use the following detours to bypass the closure:

  • Eastbound I-94: Northbound I-35E to eastbound I-694 to I-94.
  • Westbound I-94: Westbound I-694 to southbound I-35E or southbound Highway 61 to westbound I-494 to Highway 52.

During the closure, the Lafayette Bridge will remain open. However there will be no access from northbound Highway 52 to westbound I-94. Access to southbound Highway 52 will only be possible from I-35E. There will be no access to the southbound bridge from 7th Street (Highway 5).
