Truckers Probably Pulled Over to Watch the Eclipse

Video-based telematics provider Lytx found that truck drivers seemed to join in with the rest of the country last week to catch a glimpse of the eclipse, according to data from trucks equipped with its DriveCam system.

The Kroger Co. has begun rolling out video telematics to its fleet of more than 1,200 tractor-trailers, and has already seen a significant reduction in collisions, handheld phone use, and unbelted drivers.

DriveCam Video Helps Address Driver Complacency

The Andrus team, which serves 11 Western states and Texas, entered into a trial with the Lytx DriveCam video telematics program with it's 340-truck fleet.

When Andrus Transportation Services sought a way to safeguard its freight, its drivers, and the roads they travel while still maximizing their trucking assets, its leadership knew that video could be the powerful tool they needed.

Study Says Video-Based Safety System Could Cut Fatalities 20%

If every commercial vehicle over 10,000 pounds were equipped with an in-cab video-based driver safety system, about 800 lives could be saved each year and more than 38,000 injuries prevented, according to a new study.
