ATA to Allow Non-Members in National Truck Driving Championships

ORLANDO -- The American Trucking Associations’ board of directors on Tuesday voted to make the National Truck Driving Championships more inclusive by allowing non-ATA members of state trucking associations to compete in the annual safety competition. The decision was made during the group’s Management Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Fla.

ATA: Trucking Short of Nearly 100,000 Drivers Annually

On Tuesday American Trucking Associations Chief Economist Bob Costello said fleets are adjusting to continued tightness in the driver market by increasing pay and hiring newer drivers.

Survey Says: Hours of Service Top Trucking Industry Concern

ORLANDO -- The changes to the federal commercial driver hours of service rules that went into effect July 1 caused the issue to top the American Transportation Research Institute's annual survey of more than 4,000 trucking industry executives, truck drivers, trucking industry suppliers and government.
